How it works
Every device asks one small question: what's the air like at this spot right now? Our server answers from National Weather Service observations and the three-day trail we trace from NOAA's wind data every hour, using the same rules as the app, and caches each answer for 15 minutes. Screens that show the full maps run the app itself in ambient mode.
Building something? The answer is plain JSON: /api/v1/now?lat=32.9&lon=-117.1. Free, no key; please poll no faster than every 15 minutes and show the credit line.
